Separate from the federal tax credit for electric vehicles, beginning July 1, 2022, Illinois residents that purchased a new or used all-electric vehicle from an Illinois-licensed dealer are eligible for the following:
· A $4,000 rebate for the purchase of an all-electric vehicle that is not an electric motorcycle.
· A $1,500 rebate for the purchase of an all-electric motorcycle.
The first rebate cycle is closed, but the second one opened on November 1, 2022, and will close on January 31, 2023. Applicants for the rebate must meet all the eligibility requirements and submit the two-page application within 90 days of purchase.
The rebate is for individuals only and does not apply to businesses or commercial entities. It also does not apply to hybrid vehicles. There is no income limit for eligibility, and the rebate is available for the application period mentioned above and/or until funding is depleted.
